Schedule a tutoring session

Use the tutor scheduling link below to schedule an hour long session that is at a convenient time for you. Complete the form with the topic, your goals and concerns, and upload pictures or screenshots of math problems in advance. (You can also share your screen during the tutoring session). You will receive an email confirmation of the scheduled time with a Zoom link that you can add to your calendar. It will include instructions if you need to reschedule.

During the tutoring session

Each hour long tutoring session will follow a structure. The first 5-10 minutes will be checking in, agenda and goal setting. The main part of the tutoring session, 30-40 minutes, will be focused on math help, asking questions, learning from mistakes, and growth mindset. The remaining 5-10 minutes is accountability and reflection where we discuss how to check in, when to meet next, what is working and/or is not working well, and key takeaways from the tutoring session.

After the tutoring session

You will receive an email with a link to the Zoom recording (if you want to rewatch it) and a shared workspace with notes from the session, including topics, goals, and resources.

What's included:

  • Shared Workspace

The online shared workspace will house topics we cover, related goals, tutoring session recordings, and any additional resources.

  • Measurable Progress

Students will reflect on their progress both during a session and over multiple sessions, and will be able to measure not only how they are doing in math, but also how they feel about it.

  • Growth Mindset

Students will learn the neuroscience behind math anxiety, and how learning from mistakes is actually good for the brain! Struggle can be growth.

  • Less math anxiety and avoidance

Math can be fun and enjoyable when students are allowed to make mistakes, look for patterns, and explore it with curiosity. This is a space to practice and get comfortable with uncertainty, knowing it is a normal part of the learning process.

FAQs

  • Sliding scale for online tutoring $50-$100/session. I want to make sure my services are accessible and affordable. Economic justice and helping others is important to me. As an educator, I chose to work with disadvantaged youth to give them better opportunities. If paying for tutoring is a sacrifice or a hardship, pay at the low end of the scale. If you can afford to pay more and support my work, please do. Do what feels right and good for you.

  • If the low end of my sliding scale ($50/session) is still too much, please book a free info session where we can discuss what you can afford and how I might be able to help.

  • No. I only meet in Zoom to protect my health and the health of others.
